Mike Butler, Architect, NCARB, LEED AP

Mike Butler founded Butler Architectural Group in 2010 as a platform to work closely with clients in developing projects with enduring qualities. A licensed architect in Texas, he has more than 35 years of experience designing and executing distinctive projects statewide. In his leading role as Principal and Design Director, he has pushed the office to take on projects of all scales while maintaining theoretical aspirations.
Recent years have allowed Mike to bring along sustainable ideas to his projects. Examples are evident where the design reflects the regional characteristic of where the project is located. His clients have also become more aware of the benefit of using regional materials and construction methods in their projects. Mike believes people have an influence in the environment, which places a strong responsibility on designers to act responsibly. His understanding of the relationship between indoor and outdoor place-making generates ideas that connect the two elements.
Mike has worked to build a staff capable of responding to the specific needs of our clients. His background is varied and includes master planning campuses for institutional and religious clients as well as designing buildings and spaces requiring the understanding of acoustics and visibility/audience connectedness. Some of his projects in Texas with defined goals include The Brook Hill School, All Saints Episcopal School, Tyler Junior College, The University of Texas at Tyler, Dayspring United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Tyler and Marvin United Methodist Church. Each project requires an understanding of the client, their needs and the relationship of the project to the selected site.
Mike holds a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A&M University.
